Best Practice N°12- LevelLevel 1- Section code

Description

The source code of all the pages contains a document type declaration (doctype) which conforms to the syntax defined by the W3C.

Objectives

Allow for correct interpretation of the pages by providing the user agents with the standard in use.

Possible technical solutions:

Use one of the document type declarations provided in the List of valid DTDs you can use in your document published by the W3C QA

Control methods:

Check that the doctype used in the one that returns the fewest errors (or ideally none) when submitted to a validator

Put these Best Practices to use.
